September 2007
Attention All Dads,
The last two years I have led a Dad's Reading Group that meets four times during the year to read books on our Upper School reading list. If you haven't joined us before, this is the easiest year for you to join. The books I have chosen for the year are a little more accessible to those of us who have grown up in the modern age; but they are still excellent reads. I expect a good turn-out for this year's group.
Each meeting will commence at 6:45 so we can all be to work by 8:00. As you begin to read the books, mark them up and write notes in the margin. My goal is that they would serve as dinner table conversation as your children begin to read them in class. I am a firm believer in the power of the dinner table in the development of a child's worldview. You will have a profound affect if you can center your conversations around books of substance rather than around "How was your day today?"
Please respond to my email if you want to be added to my reading group list and I will send you friendly reminders.
Your Fellow Reader,
